What is different about LVS Online Classes?
At LVS, students come first. We limit class size so that the instructors will be able to interact with every student. You won't find yourself in a class of 750 where you are known by a number rather than your name.
We also believe that learning should be fun....for the instructor as well as the student. At LVS, you will learn new skills, or improve existing ones, while you interact with some of the greatest people online - our students.

How is taking an Internet course different from classroom instruction?
In today's fast-paced world, many of us find it difficult to take time away from work and family to attend school. One of the primary advantages of our online school is that you can "attend class" in the comfort and convenience of your own home and office. All you have to do is log into your online classroom when you are ready to download the lesson or communicate on the classroom message board.

I don't have a website!
Some of our classes do not require a web site
or other arrangements can be made for students to post assignments. If you'd like to be able to post your assignments on your own website, we provide free web hosting for our students and a student upload area. Details will be found in your classroom.
We also have a free HTML tutorial which
will help you get your homework assignments online. And the "Build Your Website" class will help you gain much more web site knowledge if you find yourself so inclined!

Is the purchase of books required?
No, books are not required at LVS. The detailed lessons are written by highly qualified instructors who give step by step instructions and supply a lot of screen captures to assist you in learning.

What is needed to take online classes at LVS?
- You should have the most recent version browser that you are using (ie, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Opera, Safari). Visit your browser's home page to verify you have the most current version.
- Most classes have lessons available in PDF format (Portable Document Format), a printer friendly publication. Most computers have the Adobe Acrobat Plug-In pre-installed. If you need to upgrade your version or download the free plug-in, you may do so here: www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html
- Most lessons have "work files" that coincide with the lessons. To make it easier for the student to obtain these files and to save on download time, these files are available in zip format. You will need a compression utility to unzip these files. Windows XP provides a built-in compression program - follow this link for a free tutorial: http://www.lvsonline.com/compresstut/index.shtml. LVS also offers a free tutorial on how to use Winzip at this location: http://www.lvsonline.com/winzip.shtml. Or do an internet search for "compression utility".
- If taking a class that teaches how to use a specific program (ie PSP, Flash, etc), a legal version of that software must be installed on your system. Some manufacturers offer a trial version, however it may not last long enough to complete the 6 week course. LVS has a list of academic resellers that offer educational discounts to LVS students. Another option is to search eBay for the software you need at possible discounted rates.

Why do I get an error when I try to use your email links?
Some AOL users have reported problems with the cloaking system we use to hide email addresses on this site from spammers. If this happens to you please write to informationatlvsonline.com (change the word at to the @ symbol).
Why am I not receiving a response from LVS?
LVS makes every effort to respond to emails within 24 hours, but usually much sooner. If you did not receive a response to an email after a reasonable amount of time, please resend the email. But first, make sure these LVS domains are in your allowed senders list:
·lvsonline.com
·lvsassociates.com
If your email client does not allow just domains, then enter these email addresses in your allowed senders list:
·registeratlvsassociates.com
·registeratlvsonline.com
·informationatlvsonline.com
·vikkiatlvsonline.com
·katatlvsonline.com
·registrationatlvsonline.com
NOTE: change the word at to the @ symbol

Why do I see strange characters when I post a message on the board?
Safari users, you may see some strange things (WebKitFormBoundry...) added to the Subject and Name fields when you post messages on the boards. This is a bug in Safari that somehow adds that WebKitFormBoundry stuff to your cookie. You *could* delete the cookie each time to visit the board and allow it to create another one, but that would be a bit of a pain. :) The Safari folks are working on fixing the bug so keep your version of Safari updated as new versions come out. Hopefully this problem will be a thing of the past soon. In the meantime, we recommend that you use another browser for the boards.
